Qualifications:
Los Angeles Freightliner is currently seeking a Parts Counterman to accommodate our growing needs. The Parts Counter Position is a fast paced and highly visible front line position. Qualified candidates will have:

  • Minimum of 2 years experience either aftermarket of heavy duty truck dealer
  • Excellent Communication skills with attention to detail
  • A working knowledge of retail parts sales
  • Familiarity with dealership operating systems; DSI experience preferred

DIESEL/TRACTOR TECHNICIAN >>> Apply for this position

As a Diesel Technician, you will troubleshoot, diagnose, adjust, repair, or overhaul trucks, buses, and all types of diesel engines. You will also correct vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems, such as, power and drive trains, electrical, air conditioning, fuel, emission, brake, steering, hydraulics; complete machine shop operations; make adjustments and alignments including bearing loads, gear tooth contact, valve mechanisms, governors, oil systems, control linkages, clutches, and traction units.

Qualifications include:

  • 3+ years working as a diesel truck mechanic
  • Engine overhaul experience
  • Own your own tools
  • Advanced troubleshooting and diagnostic testing
  • Advanced electronic repair experience
  • Technical understanding & Attention to detail a must
  • Strong verbal and Documentation skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Have or be able to get a Commercial Driver’s License

Duties may include:

  • Reads job orders and observes and listens to operating equipment to ensure conformance to specifications or to determine malfunctions.
  • Verifies vehicle performance by conducting test-drives; adjusting controls and systems.
  • Inspects defective equipment and diagnoses malfunctions, using test instruments, such as motor analyzers, chassis charts, and pressure gauges. Attaches test instruments to equipment and reads dials and gauges to diagnose malfunctions.
  • Changes oil, checks batteries, repairs tires and tubes, and lubricates equipment and machinery.
  • Adjusts brakes, aligns wheels, tightens bolts and screws, and reassembles equipment.
  • Disassembles and overhauls internal combustion engines, pumps, generators, transmissions, clutches, and rear ends.
  • Examines and adjusts protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices.
  • Inspects and verifies dimensions and clearances of parts to ensure conformance to factory specifications.
  • Inspects, repairs, and maintains mechanical equipment and machinery, such as pumps and compressors.
  • Operates valve-grinding machine to grind and reset valves.
  • Reconditions and replaces parts, pistons, bearings, gears, and valves.
  • Keeps shop equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
  • Enhances maintenance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

PRIMARY JOB FUNCTION

Refinish Heavy Duty Trucks, Buses, and Fire Apparatus

DUTIES MAY INCLUDE:

  • Cuts and tapes plastic separating film to outside repair area to avoid damaging surrounding surfaces during refinishing procedure.
  • Fills depressions with body filler and files, grinds, and sands repaired surfaces, using power tools and hand tools.
  • Paints and sands repaired surface, using paint spray gun and motorized sander.
  • Mixes polyester resin and hardener to be used in restoring damaged area.
  • Reads specifications or confers with customer to determine custom modifications to alter appearance of vehicle.
  • Removes accessories and trim to gain access to vehicle body and fenders.
  • Reads job orders to ensure conformance to specifications.
  • Keeps shop equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
  • Enhances collision department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

KNOWLEDGE RELATED TO DIESEL TECHNICAN:

  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, benefits, repair, and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of design techniques, principles, tools and instruments involved in the production and use of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services including needs assessment techniques, quality service standards, alternative delivery systems, and customer satisfaction evaluation techniques.

BUS SERVICE MECHANIC >>> Apply for this position

Primary Job Function:

  • Pick up & Delivery of various types of class 6-8 vehicles to and from customer jobsites in a safe and timely manner
  • Road testing of vehicles currently in the shop to verify mechanical problems have been corrected

  • Staging and moving vehicles on company lot
  • Filling out paperwork and following all DOT regulations and requirements
